The VTCT Level 2 in Facial and Skin Care course is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your knowledge and skills in facial skin care including all the vital underpinning knowledge of the skin.
On this course you will learn everything from full client consultation & in depth skin analysis, to product choice, skin concerns and full facial routine protocols.
You will also learn how to steam the face correctly, contraindications and a full facial massage routine.
The underpinning knowledge of the skin, skincare concerns and how to treat the skin is key to achieving the best results for your clients, this is often missed on beginner courses but is the most vital part of succeeding, This will result in building a loyal and trusting client base who will recommend and speak highly of your services.
This qualification will also develop high level knowledge of health and safety practices in a clinic environment and how to promote client care and communications in beauty related industries.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in the skincare industry to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to build your own successful skin clinic.
Course Structure
There are 3 units in this course:
• Health, Safety and Hygiene in the clinic
• Client Care, Communication
• Facial Massage and Skincare
The theory for all units will be completed online through our online platform which will include detailed powerpoints & full manuals/ resources for you to download and continue to study.
There will be a knowledge quiz for each unit just to allow you to keep track of knowledge retention from the theory learned and will ensure you can continue to study any gaps.
Once you have completed your online training and assignments you will attend your academy days on the dates given to you on enrolment which will include your theory examinations.
On your academy training days we will have an extra theory session just to recap on some important points that are covered within your final exams.
The academy training days will be packed with hands on practical skills training including full demonstrations by therapists and practicals on models to make sure all criteria.
All products and tools are provided for your training days at the academy. No other kit is needed to complete your training.
Theory exams
• 2 x Facial Skincare External exam
• 1 x Health and safety External exam
• There is a 70% pass rate required to move onto practical training.
Practical academy days:
Your academy days will consist of 2 full days
Plus 1 Day exam day
We want you to be fully confident after your course and will always allow you to come on other practical days providing space for extra learning and confidence boost if needed.
Academy days will run from 10am - 4.30/5pm
Practical Assessment:
Our IQA examiner will observe a treatment carried out by you and observe our assessors.
VTCT Assessments are continuous and consists of practical assessments which can be supported with your portfolio of work which you will need to create along the way to provide further evidence of your knowledge and understanding.
Your portfolio will also contain all document feedback sheets from your educator and assessor including client consultations forms.
Certificate:
Once you complete your practical assessment and passed we can then we submit our evidence to the awarding body VTCT to claim for your certificate.
The certificate can take up to 12 weeks to be released however you will receive an attendance certificate from the academy which will allow you to obtain Public Liability insurance should you want to set up straight away and contact brands for more information on their products.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
students will be required to:
• Have a good basic education
• No previous experience or qualifications in this sector is required
• Students must be over the age of 18
• Have good understanding of the English language
THIS COURSE CAN LEAD TO
On the successful completion of this course, you will be able to demonstrate that you are a highly trained skin therapist and have a worldwide recognised accreditation in skincare.
You will be able to offer a full skin analysis & consultation for your clients whilst also being able to deliver a full range of popular facial treatments.
This course will enable you to build your own skin clinic or work in a skin clinic, from a home or even mobile. once you have obtained the correct insurance needed,You can start earning by offering treatments to paying clients.
You will also have the knowledge and qualifications to apply for jobs should you want to take this path in the spa sector, cruise ships, hotels and also clinics abroad.
This course is needed if you want to get a job in a skin clinic as a skin specialist/ therapist.
You can further develop your skincare skills further by taking our VTCT Level 3 Anatomy, physiology & Pathology Course. Which will then grant you access to our advanced courses:
• VTCT Level 4 in Dermaplaning
• VTCT Level 4 in Skin Peeling
• VTCT Level 4 in Skin Needling
